Nilani -  Chandima Ratnayake -  Shyamali Jayatillaka -  Nuwan Pushakumara         Our scope of work is based on diagnostic Onco-Haematology, to assist the Clinical Oncology team of the hospital.   Bone marrow examination - Over 3000 bone marrow examinations are done annually,   • Bone marrow cytology and cyto - chemistry   • Bone marrow Histology, immunohistochemistry  and special staining tests.   • Cytogenetic and molecular analysis of Bone marrow sample in collaboration with overseas laboratories.       Other Haematological investigations   • Coagulation Studies   • Special haematological investigations.       Patient Care   • Management of Aplastic Anaemia  Patients.   • Management of general haematological diseases.   • Monitoring patients on long-term anticoagulants       CME   • This is the main Onco-haematology center in the country for post-graduate medical education.   • Training programmes for the Medical Laboratory technicians including foreign apprentices       Academic Activities   • Participation in scientific forums - Sri Lanka Collage of  Haematologists   • Publication of research papers       Future Plans   • Establishment of stem cell transplant unit   • Establishment of Allogenic bone marrow transplant unit.   • Establishment of a Molecular Biology Laboratory.
