Direct smear identificationb - Wet smear, Gram stain, Ziehl - Neelsen stain for Acid - Fast - Bacilli. 02. Culture facilities - Urine, Blood, CSF, other strile body fluids, Pus, Sputum and others. 03. Antibiotics - Sentivity testing (ABST) for isolated bacteria. 04. Serology - Hepatitis B antigen and antibody detection. In addition to the diagnostic facilities mentioned above, the Consultant Clinical Microbiologist and the medical staff provide clinical advice related to the management of infectious diseases. Infection Control Responsible for » 01. Setting up infection control in the Hospital which includes developing a long term strategy as well as timely and effective action for acute problems such as outbreaks. 02. Development of specific policies and guidelines and their implementation, Surveillance, audit of infectionb control practices, arranging awareness programmes for the Staff members and ensuring the required Infra - Structure, personnel and funding. 03. This Department also provides expert advice regarding problems related to infection control.
