This is the training center for all specialties related to Clinical Oncology in Sri Lanka. Post graduate trainees of the fields like Clinical Oncology, Radiotherapy Surgical Oncology and Gynecological Oncology are attached to this institute for their respective training leading to the degrees awarded by the post Graduate Institute of Medical University of Colombo.

Post graduate trainees are exposed to all clinical activities and they actively participate in patient management, care and health educational programmes. There are continuous medical educational activities to upgrade the knowledge of Clinicians, post Graduate trainees, nurses, para medical staff, with journal clubs, clinical presentations and lectures and clinical audit.

Trainers are the consultants attached to the Institute and there are 07 clinical Oncologist, 02 Surgical Oncologists and 01 Gynae - Oncologist, 02 Radiologist, 01 Pathologist, 01 Haematologist and 01 Microbiologist involve in the 4 teaching programme.

This small group together with few faculty staff for theoretical studies give their fullest support to improve the quality of trainees to produce good quality. Oncologists to cater for the whole countries requirement.
